Training session: Managing the UltraGenda infrastructure

This training course is aimed at IT staff who are responsible for the technical administration and supervisions of UG Pro and the associated integrations. You will become familiar with the technical architecture of UG Pro and the various installation options. You will learn how you can install updates yourself and discover how properly managed supervision can be the basis of high application availability. You will learn to identify and resolve technical problems. The following subjects are covered:

• The technical architecture of UltraGenda Pro (IIS, SQL, COM+, .Net).
• Installation options and their impact on manageability, performance and availability (single server, load balancing, clusters, virtual servers).
• Installation and upgrade of UltraGenda Pro and the associated ‘sanity test’.
• Backup and restore of the UG environment.
• Introduction to the UG print architecture (Crystal Reports).
• Introduction to the UG integration architecture: HL7 interface (configuration, administration, message queues, access rights) and web service interface.
• The daily batch processes – objectives, configuration and logging.
• Monitoring UG Pro (SQL Server, application services and log files).
• Practical hints for identifying problems (top 5 most frequently occurring problems) and their solutions.

Prior knowledge:
You are familiar with the Windows operating system and SQL Server 2005 or 2008.

Method:
Hands-on training course with practical exercises. There is a virtual server environment available for the participants.
