UltraGenda: More than ‘just’ IT solutions for hospitals
UltraGenda is often associated with hospitals, and rightly so. Our solutions have their place in every type of hospital, anywhere in the world. That being said, quite a number of other healthcare organizations use our solutions with great success as well. From time to time, we will focus on these in our Newsflashes. Today: SHL in Breda, the Netherlands. (Or, how smart organizations make use of smart solutions.)
SHL (http://www.shlbreda.nl) is a Dutch healthcare organization that supports first line medicine in the southern part of Holland. Across its more than 200 locations, the company collects blood and other samples and runs routine diagnostic tests in areas like diabetology, ophthalmology or gynecology. SHL receives referrals from more than 1,800 physicians. All results are processed in the company’s own central laboratory in Etten Leur.
A year ago, SHL decided to call on UG to support its planning and appointment-booking processes. Today, SHL uses our solutions in a manner that reflects the specific needs of its organization. For example, schedules are made per specialty (tests such as eye fundus, hypertension, lung function etc.) for each of the locations. If it appears —say one week prior to the planning date, for example— that one or more sessions are not manned, an e-mail will be sent automatically so that the central planning unit can take action.
The organization also benefits from the use of UG Broka. A midwife, for example, can leave an order or referral for an ultrasound exam. And for patients that require one or more follow-up appointments (for example: three monthly diabetes tests), a referral can even be fully generated automatically, so that the booking staff can call in the patient in a timely manner. The referral is also shown in the patient’s dashboard on the UG Broka portal, so he or she can take the initiative to book the appointment by phone or even online.
And there’s more. SHL has put in place a DICOM interface between UltraGenda Pro and all of its imaging modalities so that the relevant details collected during the booking process are all available at the right time on the right equipment. Via yet another integration, once the exam is ended, an order to the radiologist for the reading of the study and the subsequent dictation can be triggered automatically.
Finally, SHL also relies on UG Contacts Store to provide relevant management information regarding activity, occupation and waiting times in its constant striving for increased efficiency and improved service.
