UG Contacts Store for management information and statistics

The need

Many hospitals and hospital groups have a data warehouse that contains a wealth of information—at least, in theory. In reality, data warehouses are often poorly kept up and/or rely on underlying data of poor quality.

However, the need for management support in the form of reliable information is huge. An appointment scheduling system in which appointments are not only planned but also closed contains a wealth of information regarding issues as diverse as number of procedures, wait times, occupations, percentages of no-shows and durations. All this data is readily accessible and available to be drawn upon, at least when the data warehouse is properly filled. This is where things often go wrong, as the information from the appointment scheduling system needs to flow into hundreds of tables, certainly no small feat.

The solution

UG Contacts Store is UG’s datamart. In other words, it is a subset of data relating to the scheduling and follow-up of appointments. That data is collected systematically and in real-time by the data warehouse so that the customer can reach the information he needs at any time. UG Contacts Store is fed permanently from UltraGenda Pro and UG Track Pro. The data can be disclosed, analyzed and shared by means of third-party business intelligence software. Thanks to UG Contacts Store, the quality of the data is impeccable and no mapping needs to take place between the source applications and the data warehouse.

  • Online, real-time load via UltraGenda Pro and UG Track Pro.
  • Decision support data fully separated from the operational data.
  • No configuration needed; all fact tables and dimension tables automatically fed via HL7 messaging.
  • Open data model. Reporting and data analysis via third party tools such as Business Objects, SQL Analysis services, etc.
